What is Kairos?

Kairos Therapy Services Ltd is a Counselling and Therapy private practice dedicated to the provision of the full remit of a counselling service covering most issues and most modalities, with therapists based in geographical locations throughout the uk; providing the services during extended hours of availability using most mediums such as online – not limited to face to face.

The service will be provided by other Therapists who complement the service delivery areas of counselling issues and need, where all such therapists remain independent, but operate under the corporate identity branding of Kairos Therapy Services Ltd.

What makes Kairos different?

Kairos is at the cutting edge of societal changes and needs expectation, so that we are ever ready. We care about people and the quality of their relationships. Most of us accept a lower quality of relationships than we should expect. Change is in your hands and not the other person.

There are many counsellors and therapists, as well as agencies and organisations. Kairos is distinctive because of the specialisms not so easily found in one person or one organization. Kairos does not hide the fact that peoples of faith, religion, particularly Christians are under-represented for choice of Counsellors/therapists and where they express a preference for a counsellor with a faith, religious or Christian ethos Kairos can provide for their needs.

What is Kairos Therapy?

Kairos was developed in order to bring increased access to counseling from individuals based in various geographic locations throughout the country; proving a variety of mediums for accessing counseling. Also called “The Talking cure”, therapy is provided by therapists who are counsellors and psychotherapists practicing different models of counseling.

Why would I need a therapist?

When the body is out of right functioning; out of equilibrium; lost homeostasis – we know about it. Where it is apparent or visible because of a physical or medical manifestation, we see a Doctor and/or attend the hospital; but we are less inclined to seek help when the manifestation is not immediately apparent as physical or tangible, but is more emotional, mind, cognitive, thinking – which can be even more debilitating than a physical illness; yet diagnosis and help is resisted. Why? Stiff British upper lip mentality? Battle on spirit; men don’t cry; don’t appear vulnerable; don’t show weakness in front of others and a myriad of reasons – keeps us in our psychological pain when the talking cure is available to help, just as must as medical treatment can aid swift recovery.

Despite our advancements in so many aspects of life, happiness surveys suggests that we are no happier today than we were 50 years ago. Mental health wellbeing is still a major factor for all societies. The largest reason why there is misery, is mental health and then physical illness, then poverty and other things.

Admitting to a mental health condition in our society is full of stigma. The mind often needs a little help to work through some issues. Dare you break out and try Kairos and overcome shame!

What makes Kairos Therapy different?

Its accessibility, in terms of times when a therapist is available. Initially, that period will be between 8am to 10pm.

Society has moved to a 24 hour culture, requiring services to cater for differing needs and demands, due to the way in which we live our lives. That shift in culture requires a rethink and Kairos Therapy is one such counselling practice adapting to change.

Convenience, cost effectiveness, flexibility, immediate, less intimidating, are such descriptions of the service.

Does Kairos Therapy provide anything else other than counselling?

Yes. We have practitioners who are trained Coaches and also Mediators, as well as Mentors and can provide Alternative Therapists.

What is therapy and counselling?

Therapy is a space to provide you with a secure environment where you can feel safe to explore your most personal thoughts and feelings.

For a period it may open up areas in your life that have been inaccessible to you and so up wounds which need healing. Therefore before it gets better, life may feel worth for periods and so you will need to consider the impact of your frame of mind as you interact with others.

You may need short term (brief), even solution focused or longer term counselling. Counselling needs time to work and feelings do not always tell you the true about a reality. Therefore you may feel better quickly, but the process may need time for mental wounds to heal, just as the body needs time to heal from a physical injury.

What types of therapy are there?

These are sometimes called models, modalities or types of counselling practices and include – Psychodynamic, Psychoanalytical, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Humanistic, Integrative, Neurolinguistic, Mindfulness, TA (Transactional Analysis), Solution Focus, Brief Therapy, Psychotherapy, Transpersonal, Person-centred, Gestalt, Jungian and EMDR (Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing).

Different people respond better to one approach than another. It really is very individualistic and depends so much upon the relationship between therapist and client, no matter which model is chosen. Different models may better suit different issues.

The therapist should leave you with a sense of them having empathy (not sympathy) for your situation. Warmth and kindness should be evident, as well as a genuine interest in you and you achieving your treatment outcomes.
